He understands the ruling of the two cards with rooftop storm on the field and casting his general but his friends opponents do not understand.

If using rooftop storm in commander and having a zombie as your commander such as thraximundar or grim grin do you still have to pay the additional casting cost to bring them back onto the battlefield if they should find their way back to the command zone.
And say thrax has died once already.
I just feel like the card would be a bit ridiculous if the entire cost were made null and void considering upcoming zombies even if specified for what would usually be aggro based.
Rooftop storm only changes what you pay.
I ask because rooftop storm specifies that may pay 0 where other cards like the spoiled geode golem says without paying mana costs.
However i was just speaking to my friend and we came across a ruling about rooftop storm not making a taxed zombie commander free.
What i m asking is if my commander dies while i have rooftop storm on the field is he free to play or do i pay an additional 2 like i m thinking.

So if you want to cast thrax for a sixth try even with rooftop storm it ll cost you 10 colorless mana.
The mana cost and converted mana cost of the spell are unchanged.
You can pay 0 rather than the normal 4ubr for thrax but that doesn t get you out of the tax.
Would i still be able to pay 0 to cast him from command zone or will i still have to pay an additional 2.
